Do you accept insurance?
We currently are able to accept most BCBS plans, BCN, Aetna, Priority Health, Cigna, Molina, Meridian and CHS. Shooting Star recommends that you call your insurance company to discuss your coverage for occupational therapy services.
What do I need to know about the evaluation?
We recommend that you bring in your child hungry, but not starving for the initial evaluation. Please bring any medical records that would be important for your therapist to review. Please also bring all foods that are both easy and challenging for your child with you. Your evaluation will range from 45 minutes to 1 hour and your therapist will work with you to determine the plan for ongoing therapy.
How do I know if my child could benefit from therapy?
We recommend that you talk to your pediatrician about your concerns related to feeding and swallowing for your child. If you pediatrician agrees, you can have them provide you with a referral for occupational therapy. Shooting Star will then have a brief intake interview to determine if our team is the right fit for you and your child. If we are a good match, then we will schedule an evaluation to determine the ongoing plan.
How quick will we see changes?
Shooting Star therapists will work with you and any members of your village to support feeding progression. We believe that we are the coaches, and you and your village of caregivers are the players. We empower you to continue therapy every day after your appointment, which helps to promote change quickly.
